The Alpha Nu Omicron chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) international honor society at Wor-Wic Community College received awards at recent PTK regional and international conventions.
Wor-Wic Community College recently held its 13th annual golf tournament at the college’s Ocean Resorts Golf Club in Berlin. Proceeds from the tournament totaling $35,000 will be used to benefit the college’s on-campus child development center.
Noel Dufrene of Stockton, a general studies major at Wor-Wic Community College, is this year’s $500 faculty honors scholarship winner.
Wor-Wic Community College student Jessica Staats of Berlin was recently named to the All-Maryland Academic Team. The annual competition is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society (PTK).
Wor-Wic Community College has received provisional accreditation to admit the first 16 students into its new occupational therapy assistant program in the fall of 2014. Student applications will be accepted through July 11.
The Wor-Wic Community College Foundation recently welcomed Marilyn L. Bassford and Joseph Phillips Wright III of Salisbury, Dr. Brian Desaulniers of Princess Anne, Maureen L. Howarth of Ocean City and Patrick O’Malley of Berlin as new members of the board of directors.
In conjunction with the mission of Wor-Wic Community College to promote local economic growth, the college is encouraging area businesses to learn how they can use the college’s 3-D printer to achieve company goals.
During commencement ceremonies for Wor-Wic Community College at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center, John J. Allen Jr., vice president of Delmarva Power, gave the graduates advice that he said could help them achieve success.
John J. Allen Jr. will address the 2014 Wor-Wic graduates at commencement on Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m., at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury.
Wor-Wic recently celebrated the conclusion of its “Providing for Today While Ensuring Tomorrow” campaign, with a surprise announcement of a $1.5 million donation and the renaming of the Workforce Development Center as Fulton-Owen Hall.
