Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), Wor-Wic Community College received education stabilization funds designated exclusively for emergency financial aid grants to students. Subsequent legislation – the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) – authorized additional funding for HEERF. Pursuant to guidance issued by the Department of Education, we are providing information about the funds we have received, and how, and to whom, we have distributed them.
Wor-Wic Community College has signed the Recipient’s Funding Certification and Agreement to receive money from the CARES Act, CRRSAA, and ARPA. It intends to use no less than fifty percent of the funds received to provide emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and childcare).
Wor-Wic Community College received $930,447.00 from the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. As of September 30, 2022, Wor-Wic has distributed $930,447.00 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students from the CARES Act.
There are approximately 2,700 students eligible to receive an Emergency Financial Aid Grant from the CARES Act and as of September 30, 2022 there were 862 students that received funds.
