CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund Report – Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP)

Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), Wor-Wic Community College received education stabilization funds designed to defray institutional expenses and/or to designate emergency financial aid grants to students. Pursuant to guidance issued by the Department of Education, we are providing information about the funds that we have received, how we have expended them, and our method used to determine eligible expenses under Section 18004(a)(2) of the CARES Act.

Certification

Wor-Wic Community College has signed the Recipient’s Funding Certification and Agreement to receive money from the CARES Act. It intends to use this award to defray expenses incurred by the college as related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus, including lost revenue, reimbursement for expenses already incurred, technology costs associated with a transition to distance education, faculty and staff training, and payroll. Funds can also be used to provide emergency financial aid grants to students as defined in the CARES Act Report – Student Aid.

Funds Received and Awarded

Wor-Wic Community College received $573,094 from the CARES Act to defray institutional expenses and/or to designate emergency financial aid grants to students during the award period beginning May 27, 2020 and ending March 7, 2022.

Total Funds Awarded & Method to Determine Eligibility

As of June 30, 2021, Wor-Wic has allocated $264,657 to replace lost revenue as defined by the CARES Act HEERF – SIP.
