Career Training

Due to state programs like the Workforce Development Sequence Scholarship, as well as funding from the Wor-Wic Foundation, you could be eligible for financial assistance for the following courses:

Tuition assistance is available for Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset County residents for select non-credit courses that begin between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025. Visit the online application to learn more and to apply.

 

Driver Education

Learning to drive is essential to getting and keeping a job on the Lower Eastern Shore. Tuition assistance is available to eligible Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset county residents who plan on enrolling in the 36-hour training course. Complete and submit the Driver Education Tuition Assistance application.

Other Financial Assistance Resources

A ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Easton, the Children’s Home Foundation has been awarding vocational / career scholarships to students on Maryland’s Eastern Shore for 65 years. Traditional and nontraditional student scholarships are awarded to residents of the Eastern Shore of Maryland regardless of ethnicity, religion or age who are in need of financial assistance to take career/vocational courses which lead to an industry credential or certification in order to enhance their employment opportunities. Scholarship decisions are made on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Students submit the application and all required documentation at least two weeks prior to this decision date. Offers financial assistance to volunteers and employees enrolled in specific non-credit courses who work for 501(c)(3) organizations in Wicomico, Worcester or Somerset County. Call 410-742-9911 or go to the CFES Nonprofit Scholarship Application for more information and to apply.
Provides funding through the Eunice Q. Sorin Scholarship for Worcester County residents currently in the workforce who want to pursue training to advance their careers or upgrade their skills.
Supports training costs if you are economically disadvantaged or if you have lost your job. For more information, call the Lower Shore Workforce Alliance at 410-341-6515.

Provides free training in metal fabrication and welding. To see if you qualify, call Quality Staffing Services at 410-742-2600 or visit their website to apply. 

Grants are also available for certified nursing assistant students who need help with tuition, fees and books. Learn more by attending an upcoming CNA information session.

Provides funding through the Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship for students enrolled in a sequence of non-credit courses leading to licensure or certification. Click here to learn more.

The SkillPointe Foundation provides nearly $1 million in scholarships for careers that do not require a four year degree.

Through its Program for Continuing Education, this philanthropic organization supports women whose education has been interrupted who are interested in returning to complete an educational certification.

The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Scholarship provides funding for members and family members of the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce for education at a certified college, professional, technical, vocational or business school that will enhance the recipient’s ability to positively impact the Delmarva business community. 

Provides assistance to current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, their spouses and/or children, refugees and underserved members of the Lower Eastern Shore who want to become commercial truck drivers. To apply for funding, submit an application. Call 410-334-2815 for more information.
