Department of Transportation grant supports commercial driver’s license training

Wor-Wic Community College recently earned $133,700 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) through a Commercial Motor Vehicle Operational Safety (CMVOST) grant for fiscal year 2025. The funding will support commercial driver’s license (CDL) training, especially for current or former members of the U.S. Armed Forces, their spouses and their children, as well as for underserved populations.

Wor-Wic celebrates presidential inauguration

Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Md., recently installed its third president, Deborah Casey, Ph.D., in a ceremony held at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center. Casey has held the role since August 2023, and in her first year, she has worked to advance the institution, announcing new initiatives and goals for the college as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

An awards and recognition ceremony recently celebrated the achievements of 108 Wor-Wic Community College graduates who earned associate degrees and certificates in nursing.

Wor-Wic receives EARN Maryland Cybersecurity grant

Wor-Wic Community College has been awarded a $150,000 cybersecurity grant from EARN Maryland, a program by the Maryland Department of Labor. It is the only organization that has been awarded this type of grant for cybersecurity, as well as the first on the Eastern Shore.

Scholarships ease the path from Wor-Wic to UMES

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Wor-Wic Community College have renewed an agreement that creates a financial incentive for recent graduates of the two-year school in Salisbury to continue their studies 17 miles south in Princess Anne.
