Community Interpreter

Wor-Wic Community College is currently offering scholarship opportunities to those looking to turn language skills into a career as a qualified interpreter.

Wor-Wic offers a 40-hour qualified interpreter course designed for bilingual or multilingual professionals seeking careers in healthcare, education, social services or community settings. The course is ideal for those looking to start a new path, advance professionally or support limited English speaking individuals.

Topics include cultural mediation, interpreting techniques, ethical principles, and legal and business practices for community and medical interpreters. Interactive, skill-building activities are integrated throughout, and a final exam is required for completion.

Training meets prerequisites for medical interpreter certification through the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI).
