Wor-Wic Community College is inviting the public to a virtual evening with Hanay Geiogamah, a noted playwright, producer and artistic director, on Monday, Nov. 11, at 6:30 p.m., via Zoom.
Geiogamah, a member of the Kiowa tribe, is a founding member of the American Indian Playwrights Guild, the American Indian Theater and Performing Arts Alliance and the Native American Theater Ensemble at La MaMa Experimental Theater in New York. He was also a founding artistic director of the American Indian Dance Theater. Movies he has produced include “Crazy Horse” and “Tecumseh: The Last Warrior.”
Geiogamah has also written plays that have been performed throughout the United States and Europe, including “Body Indian,” “Foghorn,” “49,” “Coon Cons Coyote” and “Land Sale.” He is a professor emeritus of the school of theater, film and television at the University of California – Los Angeles, and also served as the director of its American Indian Studies center.
