Virtual poetry reading to be held Oct. 5

Wor-Wic Community College is inviting the public to a free virtual poetry reading with Marcus Wicker on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m., via Zoom.

Wicker is the author of “Silencer,” winner of the Society of Midland Authors Award, and “Maybe the Saddest Thing,” selected by D.A. Powell for the National Poetry Series. He received a 2021 National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, a Tennessee Arts Commission Fellowship, Pushcart Prize and the 2011 Ruth Lilly Fellowship. Wicker’s poems have appeared in “The Nation,” “The New Republic,” “The Atlantic,” and “Oxford American.” He is the poetry editor of “Southern Indiana Review” and an associate professor of English at The University of Memphis in Tennessee.
