Wor-Wic Community College is inviting the public to a free virtual poetry reading with Carl Phillips on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m., via Zoom.
“Carl Phillips is one of America’s preeminent poets,” said Adam Tavel, professor of English. He is among the most prominent writers we’ve ever hosted.” Phillips is the author of 15 books of poetry, most recently “Pale Colors in a Tall Field.” The former chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, Phillips has received the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. A four-time finalist for the National Book Award and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, his other honors include the Lambda Literary Award, an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Theodore Roethke Memorial Foundation Poetry Prize and the Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry.
