“The Fire Next Time” book discussion on Feb. 24

In celebration of African-American history month, a book discussion of “The Fire Next Time” by James Baldwin will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m., in Room 200 of the Hazel Center at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury. According to Amazon, the book was a national bestseller when it first appeared in 1963 and chronicles Baldwin's early life in Harlem and examines the consequences of racial injustice. The book “consists of two ‘letters,’ written on the occasion of the centennial of the Emancipation Proclamation, that exhort Americans, both black and white, to attack the terrible legacy of racism.” The discussion will be limited to 25 participants. This event is sponsored by Wor-Wic’s cultural diversity committee.
