The continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College has received an Employment Advancement Right Now (EARN) grant from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation to offer scholarships covering tuition, fees and textbooks for qualified individuals interested in becoming certified nursing assistants (CNAs).
Anyone interested must attend free orientation, information and application sessions. The orientation session will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Room 105 of Henson Hall on the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
The EARN information and application session will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, from 9 to 10 a.m., in Room 103 of Fulton-Owen Hall. Details on availability, eligibility, application and approval of the scholarship will be provided.
CNA training at Wor-Wic is an extensive state-approved series of courses that include classroom and laboratory instruction, as well as a supervised clinical experience in an area nursing home. Upon successful completion, students can register with the Maryland Board of Nursing for certification.
