James Cameron performance on Feb. 18

In celebration of African-American history month, actor and historian James Cameron will perform as John Rollison, an 18th century free man of color, on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m., in Room 101 of Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College.

Born in Virginia in 1723, Rollison apprenticed as a shoemaker, became a landowner, taught himself law, ran his own tavern and was a signer of the York County Virginia Committee for Allegiance. When he died in 1780, Rollison was one of the richest men in Virginia.

In addition to performing at schools and colleges, Cameron is an official historical guide for all branches of the U.S. military. He works with the Colonial Williamsburg Corp., and the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation as a storyteller and interpreter of history. Cameron also has experience in broadcasting and acting.

This event is sponsored by Wor-Wic’s cultural diversity committee
