Richard Arnold II will give a presentation about his career as an astronaut and what it is like working in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) career on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
Arnold has worked as an astronaut and aquanaut, traveling to the international space station on the space shuttle Discovery and completing two space walks, as well as serving as a mission specialist on a joint NASA-National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration mission in the world’s only undersea laboratory, conducting experiments and operations in a simulated lunar outpost in support of the nation’s vision to return to the moon and future exploration of Mars. Currently, Arnold is the NASA branch chief responsible for the planning and safe execution of spacewalks and space station robotic operations.
