Thirty-one jail and correctional officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Somerset, Caroline and Dorchester counties graduated in the 89th entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.

Graduation exercises, which were held in Guerrieri Hall on the college campus, featured a commencement address by John C. Moses, director of criminal justice at Wor-Wic.

Donald Rollyson Jr., assistant director of the ESCJA, presided at the ceremony. Awards of excellence were presented by agency representatives.

Graduates included Zachary E. Badger, Jermaine A. Burke, Aaron M. Handy, Sonya Parsons, Christopher W. Waters and Shemika Y. Wilson of the Wicomico County Department of Corrections, Ashley L. Clark, Michael W. Newcomb and Damian A. Priznar of the Ocean City Police Department, John W. Gillespie and George A. Schoepf of the Worcester County Jail and Detention Center, Vanessa A. Anderson, Richard L. Bankard Jr., Benjamin R. Durham, Nathaniel Edwards III, Adrience T. Elmore, William D. Herold, Antione P. Johnson, George O. Rode Jr., Amy N. Shull, Elizabeth M. Smith, Eric R. Smith, Richard S. Smith, Matthew N. Thomas, Skylar T. Waters, Sara L. Weiss and Steven C. Widdowson of the Eastern Correctional Institution (ECI), Karen L. Batson and Wade A. Stivers of the Caroline County Jail and Detention Center, and Deshawn L. Hooper and MarQuet R. Robinson of the Dorchester County Detention Center.
