Campaign success celebrated at building dedication

Wor-Wic recently celebrated the conclusion of its “Providing for Today While Ensuring Tomorrow” campaign, with a surprise announcement of a $1.5 million donation and the renaming of the Workforce Development Center as Fulton-Owen Hall. A dessert reception attended by 150 people was held in the newly-named building, following the unveiling of two portraits, one of Charles and Martha Fulton and one of the Owen family members, A.W. and Jennie Owen and their children, Michael and Lindsey.

The $1.5 million donation by the Fulton-Owen Foundation concluded a campaign that raised more than $8 million. In recognition of the Fulton-Owen donation, the college renamed the Workforce Development Center as Fulton-Owen Hall.

“Wor-Wic is grateful for the support of this generous family and is proud to dedicate the Workforce Development Center as Fulton-Owen Hall,” said Dr. Ray Hoy, president of Wor-Wic.

Andy Booth, a member of the board of trustees and chairman of the steering committee for the campaign, thanked all of the other donors and volunteers. “Wor-Wic is very appreciative of everyone who supported the campaign and helped raise new funds as part of ‘providing for today’ to establish the occupational therapy assistant and physical therapist assistant programs, which we are currently creating, in addition to ‘ensuring tomorrow’ by creating endowments for the future.”

Hoy concluded the celebration by saying, “Together, we surpassed our goal and raised more than $8 million for special initiatives that will make life better for our students and the community we serve.”

The newly-named Fulton-Owen Hall contains classrooms, laboratories and offices for the continuing education and workforce development division, as well as the business and hotel-motel-restaurant management departments.
