Deborah Salahu-Din
Deborah Salahu-Din

In celebration of African-American history month, Deborah Salahu-Din will give a free presentation called “The National Museum of African American History and Culture: Fostering Cultural Understanding through Exhibitions and Programs,” on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.

A researcher with the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., Salahu-Din will discuss strategies that African-Americans used to make social, political and economic progress. The expression, “Making a Way Out of No Way,” refers to this progress, and will be the title of one of the exhibitions and the theme that runs throughout the galleries and programs when the museum opens to the public.

This event is sponsored by Wor-Wic’s cultural diversity committee.
