Anyone working in a health care setting can learn more about how religions and belief systems can affect a healing or dying patient by taking a two-course series being offered by the continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

“Religion, Faith and Spirituality – Their Influence in Healing and Dying: Part I” will cover major world religions and belief systems and how they can affect a patient facing physical healing or death in a health care setting. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, April 30 through May 23, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

“Religion, Faith and Spirituality – Their Influence in Healing and Dying: Part II” will cover techniques for honoring a patient’s spirituality in combination with providing treatment for physical issues and the effects of spirituality and faith on a patient’s healing or preparation for death. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 4-27, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Religions and belief systems covered in both courses include Agnosticism, Atheism, Buddhism, Christianity, Druidism, Hinduism, Islam, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Judaism, Mormonism, Pagan, Scientology, Unitarian Universalism, Voodoo and Wiccan.
