Technology Transfer Symposium to be Held Nov. 8

A technology transfer symposium will be held at Wor-Wic Community College on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

The symposium will introduce the concept of technology transfer, which is the process of moving results of scientific research from federal laboratories and universities to the marketplace and society.

The main goal of technology transfer is to take fundamental scientific discoveries and innovations that already exist and turn them into marketable products so that businesses can generate new avenues of revenue, become more successful and create more jobs, while the general public benefits from research that already exists.

The registration fee of $10 per person includes lunch. Speakers will include experts in commercialization and technology transfer, as well as executives from businesses who have already reaped the rewards of technology transfer.

The symposium at Wor-Wic is part of the Delmarva Technology Transfer Initiative (DT2i), which includes Chesapeake College, Delaware Technical Community College and Eastern Shore Community College, as well as the Eastern Shore Entrepreneurship Center, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advance the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem throughout Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Visit www.dt2i.com/Wor-Wic.html for more information or to register online. Phone registrations are also being accepted by calling (410) 334-2815.
