Ehrhart Poetry Reading to be Held April 20

In celebration of national poetry month, the public is invited to attend a poetry reading by Dr. W.D. Ehrhart on Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Ehrhart is the author of seven books of prose and eight full-length volumes of poetry, including “Beautiful Wreckage: New & Selected Poems” and “The Bodies Beneath the Table.” His work has appeared in numerous literary publications, including “The American Poetry Review,” “The Christian Science Monitor,” “Colorado Review,” “New Letters,” “The Journal of American Culture,” “The Virginia Quarterly Review” and “The Washington Post Magazine.”

A Vietnam veteran, Ehrhart has written extensively about his experiences as a Marine, and received the Excellence in the Arts Award from the Vietnam Veterans of America in 2008. A former research fellow at the University of Wales, Dr. Ehrhart received the Rafael Laserna Outstanding Teacher Award in 2010. He currently teaches English and history at The Haverford (Pa.) School.

A book signing will follow the event, which is part of the college’s Echoes & Visions reading series sponsored by the arts club and the college’s cultural diversity committee at Wor-Wic.
