Dental Assisting and Radiology Courses Offered in January

Anyone interested in working as a dental assistant can benefit from taking courses being offered in January by the continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Learn about patient management, legal and ethical issues, office technology, communication, infection control, office design and equipment placement, dental billing and dental record maintenance by taking “Practice Management for the Dental Office,” which is being offered on Tuesdays, Jan. 17 through March 13, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Another section of this course is also being offered on Tuesdays, Jan. 17 through March 13, from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Radiology for Dental Assistants” is being offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 17 through March 15, from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m. This course will cover the technical and clinical knowledge necessary to help students prepare for the national examination for certification to conduct dental radiographic procedures.

Dental radiation assistants can learn about OSHA requirements on bloodborne pathogens and standard precautions, as well as the correct protocol regarding dental radiography accessories and the processing of dental radiographs, by taking “Infection Control for Dental Radiology,” which is being offered on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Dental Assisting – Introduction” is being offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 18 through March 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. This course will cover administrative and chair side dental assisting, skills in sterilization and disinfection, using dental materials, maintaining the equipment and using four-handed dental assisting techniques.

Another section of this course is also being offered on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 18 through March 21, from 6 to 9 p.m.
