Nine law enforcement officers from Wicomico and Dorchester counties graduated in the 63rd entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
Graduation exercises, which were held in Guerrieri Hall at the college campus, featured a commencement address by Sheriff Mike A. Lewis of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department.
James M. Beatty Sr., Wor-Wic’s director of criminal justice, presided at the ceremony. Awards of certification and excellence were presented by Dennis Murphey, an administrator at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions in Woodstock, Md., and various agency representatives. Anthony J. Foy of the Salisbury Police Department was the class speaker. Closing remarks were made by Murphey.
In addition to Foy, graduates included Keith A. Collison, John A. Howard, Robert J. Kemp, Jesse M. Kissinger and Matthew J. Weiss of the Salisbury Police Department, Christopher W. McIntyre of the Fruitland Police Department, Steven W. Schmidt of the Cambridge Police Department and Johnny L. Beasley Jr. of the Hurlock Police Department.
