Free Depression Awareness Presentation to be Held Oct. 7

The public is invited to attend a free depression awareness presentation on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 7 to 8:15 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

The event, which is being held in support of disability awareness month, will feature mental health professionals Sharon Nayfack, a behavioral specialist at the Atlantic Health Center in Berlin, and Tracy Tilghman, acting director of the mental health program for the Worcester County Health Department. Nayfack will explain the signs and symptoms of mental illness, and Tilghman will present information about different forms of depression and resources available to deal with depression.

In addition, Benjamin Rammer, a Wor-Wic student and trained National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) peer-to-peer facilitator, will share his journey of overcoming depression.

The event is sponsored by the counseling department at Wor-Wic and NAMI.
