Cotton Club Java scheduled for March 15

Cotton Club Java, a free African-American history month celebration, will be held on Monday, March 15, at 7 p.m., in Room 103 of the Workforce Development Center at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

The free event will include literary readings by students, as well as a keynote poetry reading by Reginald Harris, author of “10 Tongues.”

Harris, a help desk and training manager at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, is a recipient of Individual Artist awards for poetry and fiction from the Maryland State Arts Council. He was a Pushcart Prize nominee and his book, “10 Tongues,” was a finalist for a Lambda Literary Award and ForeWord Book of the Year. His poetry, fiction, reviews and articles have appeared in numerous journals and Web sites.

The event is sponsored by Wor-Wic’s cultural diversity committee.
