In celebration of national poetry month, the public is invited to attend a free poetry reading by Maryland’s poet laureate Stanley Plumly on Thursday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Plumly is the author of 11 books of poetry and poetics, and his poems have appeared in various publications. His honors include six Pushcart Prizes, a Rockefeller Foundation fellowship, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Academy Award in Literature and a Peterson Poetry Prize. Plumly is director and professor of creative writing at the University of Maryland College Park. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wilmington College in Ohio, and his master’s degree and doctorate from Ohio University in Athens.
