In celebration of African-American history month, Barbara Tagger will give a presentation about proposed national historical parks honoring Harriet Tubman on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., in Room 103 of the Workforce Development Center at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
Tagger is a program manager of the Southeast Region National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program of the U.S. National Park Service. She will share information about parks that are planned for Dorchester, Caroline and Talbot counties in Maryland, as well as Auburn, N.Y.
Harriet Tubman, well-known “conductor” of the underground railroad, was a suffragist, and humanitarian, as well as a nurse, spy and scout in the Civil War. She was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and spent the last five decades of her life in Auburn.
