Storyteller to Perform at Wor-Wic on March 23

In celebration of women’s history month, a free performance called “It Happened in the White House” will be held on Wednesday, March 23, at 7 p.m., in Guerrieri Hall at Wor-Wic Community College on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Through theatrical portrayals, Lynn Ruehlmann will provide an overview of the lives of the eight Virginia presidents and their wives, George and Martha Washington, Thomas and Martha Jefferson, James and Dolley Madison, James and Elizabeth Monroe, William and Anna Harrison, John and Julia Tyler, Zachary and Margaret Taylor, and Woodrow and Edith Wilson.

A professional storyteller since 1990, Ruehlmann performs for schools and organizations throughout the country. She taught storytelling in the early childhood education department at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. Her recording of “It Happened in the White House: True Tales of the Eight Virginia Presidents and Their Wives” was named the 2008 Storytelling World winner.
