All recreational boat and personal watercraft operators can learn basic principles of safety on the water and accident avoidance techniques, including navigation rules, aids to navigation, legal requirements and how to handle fires on board, by taking “Maryland Basic Boating Certification Course,” which is being offered by the continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College on Tuesday and Thursday, April 26 and 28, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
This course is required by law for boat and personal watercraft operators born after July 1, 1972. Students who successfully complete the course will be issued a Maryland basic boating safety education certificate that is valid for life.
