Wor-Wic Chapter Recognized at Conventions

At the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Middle States Regional Convention held in Long Branch, N.J., Wor-Wic’s Alpha Nu Omicron chapter won a college project award for their “Start Here… Finish Here… Go Anywhere” project. The chapter also received a Five Star chapter development certificate.

Cody Dennis, former president of Wor-Wic’s chapter, and Aaron Genter, former vice president of scholarship, received distinguished officer award medallions. Dennis also received one of two distinguished officer pins that were awarded.

At the PTK International Convention held in Seattle, Wash., Dennis and Genter won distinguished chapter officer Hallmark awards. Wor-Wic was the only chapter to win two of the awards. Each chapter was allowed to nominate two officers, and only 30 awards were given in this category.

The students had the opportunity to learn from speakers such as astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson and author Paul Loeb, as well as attend a series of educational forums on scholarship, leadership and service. There were also opportunities for fellowship with PTK members from the U.S. and other parts of the world.
