Child Care Development Course Begins Jan. 9

Anyone interested in working in a child care center can learn about ways to help young children develop their physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills by taking “Child Care I: Growth and Development,” which is being offered by the continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College. The class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 9 through Feb. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturdays, Jan. 28 and Feb. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

A hybrid section of this course is also being offered. The class will meet on Monday, Jan. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. The following 13 sessions will be conducted online, and the class will meet again on Wednesday, Feb. 22, for the final examination.

This course, combined with “Communication Skills for Child Care Professionals,” which begins Feb. 22, and “Child Care II: Activities and Curriculum,” which begins March 5, meets the Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Child Care, training requirement toward certification as a child care teacher – preschool.
