In celebration of African-American history month, a free movie showing of “Their Eyes Were Watching God” will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 6 p.m., in Room 302 of the Hazel Center at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.
Based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Zora Neale Hurston, actress Halle Berry portrays the character Janie Crawford, a free-spirited young black woman who experiences two stifling marriages and the struggles of societal expectations, but eventually finds passion in a romance with a younger man.
This event is sponsored by Wor-Wic’s cultural diversity committee.
