Twenty-four law enforcement officers from Wicomico, Worcester, Talbot, Caroline, Kent and Queen Anne’s counties graduated in the 71st entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA) operated by Wor-Wic Community College at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Graduation exercises, which were held in Guerrieri Hall at the college campus, featured a commencement address by Chief Edwin L. Lashley of the Salisbury University Police Department.

John C. Moses, director of criminal justice at Wor-Wic, presided at the ceremony. Awards of certification and excellence were presented by various agency representatives along with James Hamrick, director of support services for the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions in Woodstock, Md. Eric A. Otey Jr. of the Ocean Pines Police Department was the class speaker. Closing remarks were made by Hamrick.

In addition to Otey, graduates included Justin P. Aita, Joshua R. Smutny and Kevin C. Story of the Salisbury Police Department, Stacey M. Kostick and Logan B. Wolf of the Salisbury University Police Department, Steven H. Fisher Jr. and Andrew M. Riggin of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Department, Matthew R. Bertino and Robert A. Clarke of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob J. Fetterolf and Erika T. Specht of the Ocean City Police Department, Harry E. Miller of the Ocean Pines Police Department, Ryan J. Andrew, Dillon D. Bennett, Joseph R. Carpenter, Jerry A. Mixon and Darius L. Tilghman of the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Jacob C. Rideout and Cody M. Rzucidlo of the Caroline County Sheriff’s Department, George T. Manning IV and John K. Tucker of the Kent County Sheriff’s Office and Kevin A. Fleck and Bradley A. Martz of the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Department.
