Poet and scholar Dr. Jeffrey Lamar Coleman, an associate professor of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, will be the college’s keynote guest for African-American history month. He will read from his original works followed by a book sale and signing on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m., in Room 302 of the Hazel Center at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.
Coleman is the author of “Words of Protest, Words of Freedom: Poetry of the American Civil Rights Movement and Era” and “Spirits Distilled: Poems.” He is also associate editor and poetry editor of “The Journal of Hip Hop Studies,” and has served as guest curator and editor for “Delaware Poetry Review” and poetry editor for “Hayden’s Ferry Review.”
