Al Maginnes
The public is invited to attend a free “Echoes and Visions” reading and reception on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m., in Room 302 of the Hazel Center at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.
Al Maginnes, the author of 10 poetry collections who teaches composition, literature and creative writing at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, N.C., will be the featured guest. His most recent work, “Music From Small Towns,” won the 2014 Jacar Press full-length poetry book contest. His other works include “Ghost Alphabet,” winner of the 2007 White Pine Press Poetry Prize, and “The Light In Our Houses,” 2000 winner of the Pleiades Press Lena-Miles Wever Todd Poetry Prize.
Wor-Wic students whose work was featured in the 2015 issue of the college’s creative arts journal, “Echoes and Visions,” will read selections of their published work. The journal is published annually by the Wor-Wic arts club.
A book signing and refreshments will follow the event, which is sponsored by Wor-Wic’s arts club and the student government association.
