Child care symposium to be held April 14

The continuing education division at Wor-Wic Community College is offering a symposium for child care providers interested in learning more about technology, health, safety and nutrition on Saturday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., in Fulton-Owen Hall on the college campus on the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

Participants have until April 12 to register. Breakout session topics include PC basics, creating newsletters and fliers, using Facebook business pages and groups, marketing to and communicating with families via Facebook, using technology to promote school readiness, healthy eating for kids, technology and children, using technology in relation to health, safety and nutrition, using Pinterest to boost curriculum and using Android devices for business.

The cost is $59 and includes a box lunch. Registrants, who can choose three two-hour courses from the 10 courses offered, will receive six “Core of Knowledge” credit hours.

The symposium is being offered in partnership with Maryland EXCELS, the Department of Education’s Office of Child Care, the Professional Family Providers Association of the Lower Shore, Somerset County Public Schools, the Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
